Calcutta International School (CIS) - A Legacy of Inclusive Excellence.

My penultimate professional development journey across India took me to the vibrant city of Kolkata (Calcutta), in the far east of the country - and to a truly inspiring school: Calcutta International School.

What made this visit especially meaningful was witnessing the transformation of inclusive education under the leadership of Tina Servaia, an alumna of the school and now its Senior Principal. Her leadership stands as a testament to what sustained vision and heart can accomplish. Walking through the corridors of a school that truly lives its inclusive values - not just in words but in structures, support, and spirit - was incredibly moving.

To stand in a school where inclusion isn’t just a policy but a lived experience - one that’s thoughtfully woven into inquiry, pedagogy, and practice - was a real privilege. Seeing the impact of Tina’s leadership and the collective commitment of her team reminded me of what’s possible when purpose meets passion.

Thank you to Tina and the entire CIS team, for welcoming me so warmly and for your continued efforts in ensuring education is accessible, empowering, and equitable for all learners.
