Co- Facillitating the MYP Personal Project Workshop

I’ve just returned from Eyuboglu Egitim Kurumlari (Istanbul), where it was a real pleasure to co-facilitate the MYP Personal Project workshop alongside my colleague Servet Altan. The Personal Project is such a powerful component of the MYP, giving students the chance to pursue their passions, develop independence, and showcase their learning in meaningful ways. Supporting educators in guiding this process is always inspiring, and this workshop was no exception.

It was a fantastic opportunity to connect with a group of committed and enthusiastic educators who embraced the sessions wholeheartedly - bringing curiosity, openness, and plenty of thoughtful discussion.

It was also a joy to reconnect with Head of School Gülşah Çekiç, (an alumna of Eyüboğlu Eğitim Kurumları), who I first met nine years ago - where has the time gone, Gülşah! And of course, a huge thank you to NAİME SONGÜL AKAR for the warm welcome, seamless organisation, and for bringing so many passionate educators together to make this workshop such a success.

On a personal note, I was lucky to find time for a whistle-stop tour of Istanbul, guided by my great friend Servet who booked a table at a fabulous restaurant where we sampled some authentic Turkish cuisine - thank you, Servet, for making the experience so memorable.

Now, after just one day at home, I’m packing my bags again - this time for Portugal! Tomorrow I’ll be working with Oeiras International School, facilitating the MYP Category 3 Managing Assessment workshop. It’s a fast-paced but inspiring start to the new academic year, and I’m very much looking forward to the conversations and learning that lie ahead.
