Shaping students as lifelong learners at British School of Sofia

I’ve just had some truly exciting days working alongside the community at British School of Sofia, hosted so warmly by the wonderful Emmy Nawfal and all of the Leadership team. This was also my very first business trip to Sofia, Bulgaria and I couldn’t have hoped for a nicer group of educators to share this experience with!

Together, we explored how we can help students grow not only in knowledge, but also in the essential skills, mindsets, and dispositions that shape them as lifelong learners.

We’ve been unpacking what it means to empower young people to:

take ownership of their learning, collaborate with confidence, think critically and creatively, as well as act with empathy and responsibility.

It’s inspiring to see educators embrace practices that nurture both the head and the heart - ensuring students are equipped to thrive in an ever-changing world.

A huge thank you to Emmy for being such a generous host and guide, and to the whole school community for the warmth, and openness you brought to our time together. The conversations, questions, and shared reflections made this visit truly memorable. I’m looking forward to staying connected and seeing how your journey continues to unfold.
