Sharing a pearl of wisdom at Qatar Foundation

This morning, I was invited as a guest in Ali Garcia’s IB workshop to share a Pearl of Wisdom - A pearl of wisdom is something small, yet precious - a truth that guides us no matter where we are on our journey.

Taking time to reflect on this was grounding. It reminded me of the importance of pausing to consider who we are as educators, not just what we do. It has reminded me that leadership is not only about strategy and decision-making, but also about the values, dispositions, and affective skills that allow us to nurture, inspire, and grow with others.

Through the Learner Profile, I have learned to lead with the heart—to build trust through empathy, to encourage resilience through reflection, and to inspire teams with integrity and open-mindedness. As IB leaders, we carry these values into every interaction.

A big thank you to Ali Garcia for the kind invitation and for sparking such valuable reflection - it was a reminder of how powerful it is when we pause to connect our personal journeys with the shared values of IB.
